The Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations commence today, with preparations in full swing across the Telugu states. The renowned Khairatabad Ganesh idol is ready for worship during this festive period. This year marks a special occasion as the Khairatabad Ganesh idol will be installed at a height of 70 feet, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Khairatabad festivities. The idol will be consecrated as a Seven-Faced Maha Ganapati.
On Thursday afternoon, sculptor Chinaswamy Rajendran completed the idol by affixing its eyes and performing the consecration rituals. The festival committee has conducted the traditional “Agaman” ceremony for the first time, with significant participation from local youth and devotees.
As part of the celebrations, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will perform the first puja on the inaugural day, with the state Governor also expected to attend. Authorities anticipate a large turnout of devotees visiting the Khairatabad Ganesh idol. With Ganesh Chaturthi falling on Saturday, a two-day holiday follows, prompting police to implement advance measures to manage the expected crowds. Saifabad ACP R. Sanjay Kumar has confirmed the deployment of three DSPs, 13 inspectors, 33 SIs, and 22 platoons of personnel to ensure public safety. Additionally, traffic restrictions have been imposed along the Khairatabad route to maintain order and prevent any disruptions.
