The Telangana government is gearing up to make a crucial announcement regarding the Rythu Bharosa scheme. A key decision has been made to accept new applications from farmers for the scheme. To facilitate this, village meetings will be organized from January 5 to 7, 2025, for farmers to apply. The subcommittee has recommended dividing each mandal into three parts and conducting the meetings over three days, where applications for Rythu Bharosa will be collected.

The government has decided to offer investment assistance under the Rythu Bharosa scheme to all farmers, without conditions regarding the acreage of land. However, farmers will be required to include all their agricultural land in the application. The state government plans to identify the land through official surveys and satellite mapping. Presently, 92,000 farmers in the state own land exceeding 10 acres.

In a related development, the Congress party has raised serious allegations, accusing the previous BRS government of misallocating funds from the Rythu Bandhu scheme for non-agricultural purposes, such as roads and mountains. The Congress also claimed in the assembly that Rs 21,284 crores were paid for land where no crops were cultivated.

To address these concerns, the Telangana government has decided to revise the guidelines for the Rythu Bharosa scheme. A subcommittee has been formed under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka to oversee the revisions.

According to the Dharani portal, Telangana has a total of 1.53 crore acres of agricultural land. Of this, 1.30 crore acres are used for crop cultivation during the monsoon season, while the remaining 20 lakh acres are not currently farmed. The government clarified that the unused land includes hilly terrains, rocks, and other non-arable areas. As a result, the government has decided to extend the Rythu Bharosa benefits to all farmers engaged in land cultivation across the state.
