New Delhi: Investigations into the Delhi Red Fort car blast have revealed that the vehicle was driven by a man identified as Umar Nabi. CCTV footage confirmed his presence, and intelligence sources linked him to a terrorist module previously exposed in Faridabad. Preliminary findings indicate that Umar fled from Faridabad shortly before orchestrating the Delhi explosion. Authorities suspect he died in the blast itself, as forensic analysis confirmed that the DNA samples recovered from the car matched those collected from his mother in Pulwama, conclusively identifying him as the bomber.
The Central government has officially classified the explosion as a terrorist act. Following the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired high-level meetings of both the Union Cabinet and the Central Security Council to review the situation. The Cabinet strongly condemned the attack, observed two minutes of silence for the victims, and reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance against terrorism. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that all those involved would be brought to justice, emphasizing the government’s commitment to eradicating terror networks.
According to intelligence assessments, while the explosion was indeed a terrorist attack, it may not have been part of a meticulously planned operation. Officials believe the perpetrators initially intended a much larger strike but were forced to act prematurely after authorities in Faridabad seized nearly 2,900 kilograms of explosives. Investigators suspect the group attempted to dispose of or move the materials in haste, which may have inadvertently triggered the powerful explosion near the Red Fort.
