Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Thursday demanded that former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) respond publicly to MLC K. Kavitha’s recent revelation that BJP leaders had approached him with a proposal to merge the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) into the BJP.

Addressing a public meeting under the Prajapalana–Pragathibata programme in Aler constituency, Revanth took a jibe at KCR, stating that although Kavitha described the party as being surrounded by demons, the “leader of those demons” has remained silent. He mocked the BRS by renaming it “DRS – Deyyala Rashtra Samithi” and said such “evil forces” must be driven out of Telangana.

The Chief Minister accused KCR of ignoring the plight of people in Vasalamarri village during his tenure, alleging that he offered a wild fruit to an ailing woman named Agavva, which led to her hospitalisation. He also claimed that houses in the village were demolished, turning it into a “graveyard.”

Revanth criticised the BRS for attempting to question the current government after allegedly looting the state for a decade. He said even the issuance of notices by the Kaleshwaram Project Commission had unsettled KCR. “Instead of answering the questions posed, KCR is resorting to baseless criticisms,” he remarked.

Highlighting the government’s development agenda, Revanth reiterated the Congress party’s promise to rejuvenate the Musi River and committed to completing the river clean-up by November 8, 2024. He questioned why Telangana cannot clean Musi when Prime Minister Narendra Modi could take up projects like Sabarmati and Ganga purification.

The Chief Minister also announced the formation of a Yadagirigutta Temple Development Board on the lines of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams and assured efforts to upgrade the medical college under the temple’s management into a full-fledged university.

Describing Nalgonda as a land of consciousness and resistance, Revanth said the region had once driven out Nizam rule and warned that the people of Nalgonda would not tolerate false propaganda against the government.
