Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy strongly countered allegations from BRS and other opposition parties that the BC population was undercounted in the recent caste census. He stated that the comprehensive household survey conducted by the BRS government in 2014 reported the BC population at 51%, whereas the latest caste census under the Congress government in 2024 recorded it at 56.33%.

Addressing concerns over discrepancies, Revanth pointed out that the 2014 survey listed the OC population at 21%, while the latest figures place it at 15%. He challenged the opposition to justify their claims of BC underrepresentation, displaying the previous government’s survey report in the Assembly as evidence.

The Chief Minister also questioned the absence of key BRS leaders, including K. Chandrashekar Rao, K.T. Rama Rao, Harish Rao, Padma Rao, and BJP leader D.K. Aruna, from the caste census. He alleged that KCR’s family avoided participation to evade disclosing their land details.

Challenges Opposition on BC Representation in Elections

Revanth Reddy announced that the Congress government is prepared to allocate 42% of local body election seats to BC candidates. He challenged both the BRS and BJP to commit to the same, questioning why the previous government never presented its household survey report in the cabinet if it was indeed an official document.
