In Bhadradri Kothagudem district, Dasari Mallamma, an 80-year-old woman, was issued a notice to refund Rs 1.72 lakh, despite receiving a pension of Rs 10,000. This has provoked strong reactions from political leaders. Former Minister and BRS Working President K Taraka Rrao criticized the government’s action, while KTR expressed his fury, likening the government’s actions to “pulling the tongue of a hill.”

KTR took to his ‘X’ account to share his outrage, posting the notice sent to Mallamma along with her photograph. The notice, issued by the Kothagudem Municipal Office, demanded that Mallamma return Rs 1,72,928, despite being disqualified from receiving the pension.

“The Revanth government, which came to power with false promises of introducing several new schemes and increasing the money for existing welfare schemes, has now started the strange act of withdrawing money from beneficiaries in the state. Thousands of Aasara pensioners have been served notices to return the money to the government, citing technical reasons. The attempt to snatch back the Aasara pension money given by the KCR government from elderly people like Dasari Mallamma, who is suffering from paralysis as a single woman, is a testimony to the inhuman attitude of the Revanth government,” KTR said.

He demanded that the government immediately stop such actions against the poor. “Otherwise, the people will revolt against the Congress government,” he warned. Mallamma has been receiving a dependent pension since 2017 following the death of her daughter, who worked in the medical department. However, officials claim Mallamma is not eligible for the pension because her daughter had a government job.
