New Delhi: Reliance Jio on Friday unveiled a range of personal AI wearables at India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026, the country’s flagship telecom and technology event under way in New Delhi, led by Jio AI Smart Glasses that allow users to make payments simply by looking at a QR code and giving a voice command. The company’s new wearable ecosystem comprises camera glasses, audio glasses and earphones.

The standout feature, “Scan & Pay,” is designed to eliminate the steps involved in a typical mobile payment, such as taking out the phone, unlocking it, opening a payment app like PhonePe, Google Pay or Paytm, and scanning the code. In the demonstration, the camera glasses scan a UPI QR code and the user initiates the payment through a voice command, with the transaction completed once confirmed. The feature operates under UPI Circle, which allows payments of up to ₹5,000 per transaction within a monthly limit of ₹15,000. Jio clarified that these caps are set by UPI Circle rules and not by the company.

Beyond payments, the glasses function as an AI voice assistant capable of answering a range of questions. They also offer live translation, enabling people who speak different languages to understand each other through real-time interpretation. An AI note-taking feature automatically captures key points during meetings or conversations, while a live cricket commentary function delivers scores and match updates to users on the move.

The wearables also support voice commands in multiple Indian regional languages, with Jio positioning them as devices that let users interact with AI and digital services in their preferred language. According to the company, the products are intended to improve productivity, expand access to knowledge and simplify everyday tasks, moving AI beyond screens and keyboards into voice-based interaction. Reports indicate the devices respond to the “Hello Jio” wake phrase.

Smart glasses are not a new product category, but the combination of UPI payments, Indian-language support, live translation, note-taking and cricket commentary is aimed at the everyday needs of Indian consumers. Details on pricing and market availability were not announced at the showcase.
