SpaceX chief Elon Musk continued his verbal attack on Friday over delays in granting approvals for Starlink satellite internet services in India, directly targeting industrialist Mukesh Ambani. He alleged that Ambani had achieved a monopoly in satellite internet services and was attempting to protect it, sarcastically addressing him as “Prime Minister of India Ambani.”
Musk’s remarks came within hours of Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia stating on ‘X’ that India would not accept a monopoly in any sector and that three companies had already received licences.
“Dear Prime Minister Ambani, please accept my apologies for not realising you are the real boss of India. You would naturally want your monopoly in looting the people of a great country like India to continue. In that case, will you consider allowing Starlink to compete in India?” Musk wrote. He noted that, as in several other countries, many regions of India lack internet access, and said Starlink could improve the lives of people in such areas. In a follow-up post, he added that Starlink had proven worldwide that it can provide services even during natural disasters.
On Thursday, Musk had alleged that certain wealthy groups with a strong hold over the government were preventing Starlink from entering India, remarking at the time that “Ambani is the real boss of India.”
