The social media confrontation between Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, and Indian industrialist Mukesh Ambani has intensified. In a fresh post on X, Musk once again targeted Ambani, describing those countering his remarks online as “Ambani’s Army of Internet Shills” and asserting that their arguments lacked any logic.
Musk highlighted what he called two contradictory claims being made by critics. On one hand, they argue that Starlink, if it enters India, cannot compete with Ambani’s monopoly and the low prices he offers. On the other, they claim Starlink poses a major threat to Jio. Musk dismissed both as contradictory and laughable. He said that if Starlink services become available in India, citizens would have more internet options, and while increased competition might slightly reduce Ambani’s profits, it would not damage his business.
Musk also addressed pricing in the Indian market, observing that if Starlink’s prices in India were too high, no one would buy the service. He said the company therefore needs to keep its plans affordable for Indian consumers, adding that internet users would ultimately benefit from Starlink’s arrival.
However, while Musk has focused on pricing and competition, the Indian government maintains that the real issue is security. It has already made clear that full-scale security checks related to Starlink’s services have yet to be completed.
