Eminent Telangana poet and lyricist Andesri, the writer of the state anthem “Jaya Jaya He Telangana Janani Jayakethanam,” passed away on Sunday, leaving the Telugu literary and cultural world in deep grief. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed profound sorrow, stating that Andesri’s death was not only a loss to literature but also a personal one. He hailed the poet as a fearless crusader who turned his pen into a weapon during the Telangana movement, igniting consciousness among the masses. The Chief Minister described Andesri as a selfless son of Telangana soil who always stood for the poor and said his spirit would live on through the state anthem that continues to resonate in people’s hearts.
BRS chief and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) also condoled Andesri’s death, expressing shock over the untimely loss. Recalling his association with the poet during the statehood movement, KCR said Andesri’s songs and writings played a crucial role in shaping the cultural identity of Telangana. He described the poet’s demise as an irreparable loss to the state and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, praying for peace to the departed soul.
BRS MLA and former minister T. Harish Rao also expressed deep grief, terming Andesri’s passing as a painful loss to Telugu literature and the Telangana cultural movement. According to reports, Andesri had been ailing for some time and collapsed at his residence on Sunday morning. He was rushed to Gandhi Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead while undergoing treatment. Admirers across the state remembered Andesri as a people’s poet whose words celebrated Telangana’s heritage, pride, and indomitable spirit.
