Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced a series of initiatives aimed at empowering women under the Indira Mahila Shakti Mission-2025 policy. Speaking at an event organized by Indira Mahila Shakti at Secunderabad Parade Ground on Saturday night, he stated that rice mills and warehouses would be established in every mandal, managed entirely by women’s self-help groups (SHGs).
As part of this initiative, paddy purchased by SHGs at IKP centers will be stored in these warehouses, milled, and supplied to the state government and the Food Corporation of India (FCI). The Chief Minister accused certain millers of misappropriating paddy from IKP centers and failing to provide proper records. He assured that under the new policy, the entire process—from procurement to milling—would remain under the control of women-led groups.
Government Support for Women’s Economic Participation
The government will facilitate land allocation and provide necessary loans for women’s groups to establish rice mills and warehouses, aligning with Telangana’s goal of achieving a $1 trillion economy. The Chief Minister emphasized that the economic empowerment of women would be a crucial factor in realizing this milestone.
Further, the government has decided to procure nutritious food for residential schools and colleges through women’s self-help groups. Revanth Reddy directed the Chief Secretary and the SERP CEO to formulate a structured policy for this initiative.
He also criticized previous administrations for limiting the mobility of women’s self-help groups and stated that his government is actively working to strengthen their role in economic development.

Solar Power Projects and Infrastructure Development
Highlighting additional measures, the Chief Minister announced the construction of Indira Mahila Shakti Bhavans in every district headquarters, with Rs 25 crore allocated for each building.
In a major policy shift, women’s groups will now manage solar power plants—a sector traditionally dominated by corporate entities like Adani and Ambani. These groups will operate 1,000 MW solar plants and sell electricity to the state’s power department.
Revanth Reddy reiterated that the government’s faith in women’s capabilities was the driving force behind these initiatives, signaling a broader commitment to economic inclusivity and self-sufficiency for women in Telangana.
