Hyderabad’s police department has good news for former servicemen awaiting police jobs. The Hyderabad City Police department is set to fill vacant posts of Special Police Officers (SPOs). Officials have announced that 150 vacant SPO posts in the city will be filled on a temporary basis. However, only former servicemen, former paramilitary personnel, and retired police staff are eligible for these posts, and applications have been invited exclusively from this group. Former servicemen must be under 58 years of age as on 31-08-2026, while former paramilitary personnel and retired police staff must have retired within the last two years, with a maximum age limit of 62 years for this category.
Those selected as Special Police Officers will be paid an honorarium of ₹26,000 per month, with officials clarifying that no other paid leave will be applicable. However, they noted that leave without pay will be granted during emergencies.
Candidates applying for the post must submit both original and photocopies of the required documents, which include the discharge book/discharge certificate/retirement order, Aadhaar card, PAN card, photocopy of SBI passbook, voter ID card, caste certificate, and technical trade proficiency certificate, among others. Candidates applying for driver posts must possess a valid LMV/HMV driving licence. Three passport-size photographs are also mandatory.
Application and Last Date
Officials have advised that interested and eligible candidates must apply in person, along with the required documents, at the SPOs office located at the CAR Headquarters in Petlaburz, Hyderabad. Applications must be submitted by 5:00 pm on 25-08-2026, and officials have made clear that applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
