In a shocking turn of events at the Paris Olympics, star shuttlers Satwik and Chirag, who were aiming to secure India’s first doubles medal in badminton, faced a disappointing exit. The duo lost unexpectedly in the men’s doubles quarter-finals, ending their campaign in the World Games.
Following the loss, their coach Matthias Boe made a sensational announcement, revealing his decision to step down from his coaching duties. Boe, who is married to actress Taapsee Pannu, shared the news on Instagram, marking the end of his coaching career.
“My coaching days are over. I don’t have any responsibilities anywhere in the world. I have spent the longest time of my life in the badminton hall. The responsibility of the coach is somewhat stressful. I’m tired. Thanks to the Badminton Association of India for giving me this opportunity. There are so many sweet memories here,” Boe stated.
Matthias Boe, who married actress Taapsee Pannu in March 2024, has had a distinguished career in badminton, both as a player and a coach. His unexpected retirement leaves a significant gap in the Indian badminton coaching fraternity, just as the nation was gearing up for a strong Olympic performance.
