New Delhi: The youth-led Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) is set to hold its first major public demonstration at Delhi’s historic Jantar Mantar on Saturday, marking a significant escalation of a movement that has rapidly gained traction among Gen Z students and young citizens across the country. Emerging from social media campaigns against examination irregularities and perceived failures in the education system, the protest has generated widespread attention under the slogan, “It’s time to turn a joke into a revolution.”
At the center of the agitation is a demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, whom the organization holds accountable for alleged shortcomings in the education sector. The party has been vocal in criticizing question paper leaks in major examinations such as NEET and CBSE, irregularities in evaluation processes, and the growing mental health pressures faced by students. CJP leaders argue that these issues reflect systemic failures that require urgent corrective action and political accountability.
The protest has drawn support from several prominent figures. Education reform advocate Sonam Wangchuk has announced his participation in the demonstration, while actor Prakash Raj has publicly expressed solidarity with the movement and indicated that he would attempt to attend despite professional commitments. Political support has also emerged from Aaditya Thackeray, who extended his backing through social media, while Haryana farmer leader Gurnam Singh Charuni confirmed that representatives from his organization would join the protest in Delhi.
CJP founder Abhijit Dipke arrived in the national capital from the United States on Saturday morning to personally lead the demonstration. According to party leaders, efforts are underway to secure official permission from authorities for the gathering. Organizers have urged participants to assemble at Jantar Mantar carrying the national flag and a book symbolizing the importance of education, while emphasizing that the protest should remain peaceful, disciplined, and free from any provocative actions.
The movement has also gained visibility amid broader debates surrounding freedom of expression and public dissent. Recent discussions involving Chief Justice of India Surya Kant during an academic event in the United Kingdom have been cited by CJP leaders as part of the wider conversation on youth concerns and democratic engagement. The party has used social media platforms extensively to amplify these issues and mobilize support across the country.
In anticipation of large crowds, security arrangements in the national capital have been tightened. Although Delhi Police indicated that no formal application from CJP had been received, authorities have reportedly deployed a substantial number of personnel around Jantar Mantar as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order. The protest is being closely watched as a test of the movement’s ability to translate its growing online presence into a significant on-ground mobilization.
