Indian batting stalwart Virat Kohli has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the fastest player to reach 14,000 runs in One Day Internationals. He accomplished this feat during India’s Champions Trophy match against Pakistan, reaching the landmark at 15 runs. Kohli surpassed the previous records set by Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara, achieving the milestone in just 287 innings, compared to Tendulkar’s 350 innings.

With this achievement, Kohli becomes only the third player in ODI history to surpass 14,000 runs. Tendulkar remains the highest run-scorer with 18,426 runs, followed by Sangakkara with 14,234 runs. Kohli, now in third place, has accumulated 14,002 runs, including 50 centuries and 73 half-centuries. In comparison, Tendulkar recorded 49 centuries and 96 half-centuries in 463 ODIs, while Sangakkara notched up 25 centuries and 93 half-centuries in 404 matches.

Kohli also set a new fielding record, becoming the Indian cricketer with the most catches in ODIs. He surpassed Mohammad Azharuddin’s tally of 156 catches, securing the top spot with 158 catches. Sachin Tendulkar follows in third place with 140 catches. Kohli’s latest records further solidify his status as one of the greatest cricketers in the game’s history.
