TIRUMALA: TTD Chairman BR Naidu has issued an apology for the tragic stampede incident at Tirumala, which led to the loss of six lives. Addressing the controversy surrounding the event, Naidu clarified that his previous comments were not aimed at Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, as claimed by some. He strongly condemned the spread of false information and called for an end to unnecessary rumors.
Speaking to the media on Friday evening, Naidu emphasized that his remarks were made in the general context of the incident and were not intended to target Pawan Kalyan personally. He further reiterated that, upon the occurrence of the tragedy, he had promptly offered public apologies to the devotees and the families of the deceased. He also pointed out that the TTD Board had issued an apology before the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, or any ministers had made public statements.
In a meeting held at Annamayya Bhavan, the TTD Board extended their deepest condolences to the families of the deceased. It was resolved to provide compensation of Rs. 25 lakh to each of the six families who lost a loved one in the incident. Additionally, Rs. 5 lakh will be provided to the two seriously injured devotees, and Rs. 2 lakh each will be granted to the 31 devotees who sustained minor injuries.

Naidu confirmed that action would be taken against those responsible for the incident once the findings of the legal inquiry are received. He admitted that errors were made but emphasized that there would be no tolerance for negligence. The TTD Chairman described the incident as a tragic event and assured that steps would be implemented to prevent a recurrence in the future.
Regarding the upcoming Vaikunthadwara darshan, Naidu announced that tokens would be issued for the remaining days of the event as previously planned. He also indicated that discussions with the Chief Minister would be held concerning the arrangements for these special darshans.

In an additional gesture of support, Naidu revealed that the TTD would cover the educational expenses for the children of the families of the deceased, further demonstrating the Board’s commitment to assisting the affected families.
