Hyderabad: TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud has launched a scathing attack on the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) over its allegations related to the University of Hyderabad (HCU) land dispute, calling for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the financial dealings of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s family.

Speaking at a press conference held at Gandhi Bhavan, Goud challenged BRS leaders to debate the alleged land encroachments and irregularities during their decade-long tenure. “Is the BRS ready to discuss the land loot that occurred under its regime?” he asked, while accusing the party of selling valuable government land in Hyderabad to its own associates.

He alleged that the KCR family is synonymous with corruption and claimed they were the main beneficiaries in the liquor scam. “The KCR family looted enormous wealth in a short period of time, and the BRS is attempting to cover up these irregularities by deflecting attention,” Goud said.

Goud further stated that over 10,000 acres of land in Hyderabad were arbitrarily sold under the BRS government, with some parcels fetching up to Rs 100 crore per acre. He claimed that the BRS also attempted to illegally acquire land belonging to multiple universities, including HCU.

Referring to the controversial IMG Bharat deal, he alleged that then-minister K. T. Rama Rao had negotiated for a 33% commission and that the Rs 5,200 crore kickbacks now being blamed on the Congress were in fact intended for the BRS. Goud added that the BRS had plans to hand over HCU lands to real estate developers had the Congress not come to power.

Clarifying the land ownership, Goud said HCU lands are government-owned and reminded that the Congress had previously allocated 390 acres in return. He credited former Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy with safeguarding the land and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy with reclaiming it.

He attributed the Congress party’s recent electoral success to public resentment over BRS’s alleged corruption and misuse of government assets. Goud also criticized KTR, questioning his educational background and accusing him of speaking with “half knowledge” for political gain.

Goud concluded by alleging that the BRS is using artificial intelligence to create manipulated videos and spread misinformation among the public. He claimed that the ongoing BC caste census has unnerved the BRS and that the party is uncomfortable with the positive response farmers are showing towards the current government.
