Tirupati: In a disturbing case of exploitation and crime, Pranava Krishna Reddy, a final-year BL student at a leading university in Tirupati, and her husband, Krishna Kishore Reddy, have been arrested on charges of rape and blackmail.
According to police reports, Pranava befriended a girl from Kurnool and introduced her to marijuana, leading to the girl’s addiction over a period of two years. Pranava then brought the girl, who was residing in a hostel, to her home. Under the influence of the drug, the victim was raped by Krishna Kishore Reddy.
The situation worsened when Pranava and her husband began blackmailing the victim. They sent explicit photos and videos of the assault to the victim’s elder brother and fiancé, demanding money in return for not disseminating the materials further.
The victim, seeking justice, approached the MR Palli police, who uncovered that this was not an isolated incident. Investigations revealed a previous case involving similar criminal activities, including the theft of Rs. 5 lakh. Both Pranava Krishna Reddy and Krishna Kishore Reddy have been taken into custody and are now facing judicial proceedings.
