The Telangana government has decided to issue certificates to B.Tech students who pass at least 50% of their subjects in the four-year course. A committee will be constituted to formulate the implementation guidelines.
Currently, the B.Tech curriculum consists of 160 credits, with 20 credits per semester. To be awarded a degree, students must clear all subjects and accumulate the full 160 credits. Even a single failed subject results in the denial of the degree, rendering four years of study ineffective.

Under the proposed system, students who successfully complete at least 50% of their subjects will receive a certificate, recognizing their attainment of 80 credits. The framework for this initiative will be finalized soon, enabling students to utilize the certification for employment opportunities.
Officials are also set to deliberate on examination fees, credit requirements for academic progression, and other regulatory aspects across universities.
