Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled the Union Budget for 2024-25 on Tuesday, allocating a total of ₹48.21 lakh crore across various sectors. However, the budget has faced widespread criticism for not including any funds for Telangana.
In response, Telangana Congress MPs convened at the Western Court in New Delhi to address what they described as a grave injustice. They are formulating an action plan to address the omission and plan to protest in Parliament on Wednesday to highlight their concerns. The MPs emphasized the need to fight for the funds and rights stipulated in the AP Bifurcation Act that are due to Telangana.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also voiced his discontent, criticizing the budget for excluding the word ‘Telangana’ and alleging discriminatory treatment despite his repeated appeals for state development support. Revanth Reddy demanded the resignation of Kishan Reddy, the Union minister from Telangana, and expressed frustration with Bandiya Sanjay and Kishan Reddy for their perceived ineffectiveness.
