Hyderabad: The Telangana government is making significant strides in its implementation of the farm loan waiver program, marking key developments with recent announcements and clarifications. The government has unveiled comprehensive guidelines, highlighting its commitment to easing financial burdens on farmers.

In a pivotal decision, it was announced that loans up to Rs 1 lakh will be waived off starting from the 18th of this month, with disbursements expected into farmers’ accounts by the end of the same day. Concurrently, celebratory events with beneficiaries are slated to take place at various farmers’ forums.

The forthcoming celebrations will be attended by ministers, MLAs, MLCs, and other public representatives, underscoring the government’s engagement and support for the agricultural community. To ensure the integrity of the process, stringent directives have been issued to bankers to prevent any misallocation or diversion of the allocated funds. Addressing concerns among farmers regarding eligibility criteria, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy clarified that the ration card requirement is solely for identifying beneficiary families. He emphasized that families can benefit from a farm loan waiver of up to Rs 2 lakh based on their land passbook details. These clarifications were communicated during a recent conference with district collectors, reinforcing the government’s commitment to transparent and equitable implementation of the loan waiver initiative.
