BRS MLA KTR received significant relief as the Telangana High Court adjourned the Formula E car race case for another week. The court issued an order preventing KTR’s arrest until the next hearing, which is scheduled for December 27. Additionally, the court directed the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to file a counter response by December 30.
During the hearing, KTR’s lawyer, Sundaram, argued that the FIR did not include any mention of KTR benefiting from the alleged transactions, claiming the case was politically motivated. He questioned why KTR was being implicated for allegedly providing funds to event organizers when there was no personal gain. Sundaram also asserted that there was no substantial evidence to support the allegations and clarified that any violation of the election code should be addressed by the Election Commission, not the ACB.
The lawyer further emphasized that the agreement for Season 9 of the car race had been finalized on October 25, 2022, and that a new agreement was not required for Season 10. The new agreement, he stated, was simply a continuation of the previous one, and no procedural violations occurred. He criticized the FIR being filed 14 months after the event, highlighting the absence of any preliminary investigation and arguing that the case was filed due to political motives. Sundaram also noted that Section 13(1)(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act did not apply to this case.
