Hyderabad: The recent fire at NIMS (Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences) in Hyderabad has led to significant revelations, with authorities uncovering the causes behind the blaze. The fire, which occurred on Saturday, is believed to have been triggered by discarded cigarettes and waste material.
Firefighting teams promptly arrived at the scene and brought the fire under control within an hour. Once the smoke cleared, the Punjagutta police initiated an investigation into the incident. According to the preliminary findings, the fire originated from a pile of garbage, where staff members had carelessly discarded cigarettes and bidi butts. The embers from these items are believed to have ignited the trash, which then spread to nearby electrical wires.
Police confirmed that the careless disposal of cigarettes was the primary cause of the fire. Additionally, another startling allegation has surfaced: some NIMS Health Department staff members are accused of illegally storing fireworks. Based on a viral social media video, the police have opened a separate case and are now investigating these claims. Dr. Lakshmibhaskar, the Medical Superintendent of NIMS, has officially lodged a complaint regarding this matter.
The Punjagutta police are conducting a multi-faceted investigation into the fire and are examining all aspects of the incident to uncover further details.
