Hydra has intensified its crackdown on unauthorized constructions across the city. Backed by government support, Hydra officials carried out demolitions in Madhapur on Sunday, targeting illegal structures in Ayyappa Society.
A five-story building under construction in violation of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) notices and High Court orders was brought down by the officials. “Despite clear instructions from both the GHMC and the High Court, the construction continued. We had no choice but to proceed with the demolition,” said Hydra Commissioner Ranganath.

According to Hydra, the demolished structure included a cellar, ground floor, and five upper floors — all built without approvals. Local residents had lodged complaints, citing safety concerns and rule violations. Upon inspection, Hydra officials confirmed the irregularities.
“The High Court had already declared the building illegal. Yet, the construction continued in defiance of court orders,” said Commissioner Ranganath, adding that Hydra will continue its efforts to enforce building regulations across the city.
GHMC officials disclosed that a portion of the same building was partially demolished in March 2023 following a court directive. However, the builder resumed construction, ignoring legal notices.

“Hydra has a clear mandate to act against any unauthorized structures. We are committed to ensuring that all constructions comply with the rules,” GHMC officials said.
The crackdown is part of a larger initiative to curb unauthorized developments across Hyderabad, which have become a growing concern for authorities and residents alike.
