The Telangana government’s initiatives on the BC caste census and SC categorization have reached a crucial stage. In a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Monday, the reports submitted by the respective committees were approved.
The Cabinet gave its nod to the caste census report presented by the subcommittee led by Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy. Similarly, the SC categorization report, submitted by a one-member commission, also received approval. Both reports will be tabled for discussion in a special session of the Telangana Assembly, after which resolutions will be passed and forwarded to the central government.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stated that Telangana is leading the way in these significant policy measures. He emphasized that the state has made history by conducting a comprehensive caste census for the first time in the country. Assuring the accuracy and systematic execution of the survey, he expressed confidence that Telangana’s model would set a precedent. He also remarked that the state’s move on caste census would exert pressure on the Prime Minister.
