Hyderabad: Manda Krishna Madiga, a prominent activist, has sharply criticized Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over his comments regarding the Padma awards. Madiga raised doubts over Revanth’s dissatisfaction, questioning whether he was upset because the individuals he had recommended were not awarded or if he himself was frustrated by not receiving recognition.
Manda Krishna pointed out that in his 30 years of activism, he had not been acknowledged despite his contributions, and questioned why his name was absent from the list of nominees submitted by Revanth. He further stated that many of the recommended individuals had already received government benefits.

He also questioned why Revanth had forwarded the names of Gaddar and Gorati Venkanna, who are seen as aligned with the BJP, to the central government, adding that the chief minister should not have simply written letters criticizing the central government but should have made efforts to ensure the awards were given to the recommended individuals.
Regarding his own Padma Shri award, Madiga stated that while he was pleased to receive the honor, he believed Revanth was upset about his own lack of recognition. He expressed strong disapproval of Revanth’s remarks and suggested that the central government was neglecting Telangana’s contributions.

In response, Revanth Reddy had earlier expressed his disappointment with the central government’s decision to ignore the recommendations from the Telangana government. He had proposed several prominent figures, including Gaddar, Chukka Ramayya, Andeshree, Gorati Venkanna, and Jayadeer Tirumalaraju, for Padma Shri honors, accusing the central government of insulting Telangana by failing to consider these nominations. Revanth criticized the central government for not awarding any Padma honors to Telangana despite the announcement of 139 awards, calling it an unjust decision.
