US President Donald Trump has once again launched a sharp attack on Iran, warning that Tehran will face fresh military strikes if it does not come forward for diplomatic agreements with Washington. He said the US would not hesitate to carry out another operation along the lines of “a little Epic Fury” if required.
Addressing a large campaign rally in Florida, Trump highlighted the national security achievements of his administration. Taking a sarcastic swipe at Iran’s leadership, he said, “If there is no deal, another attack may be unavoidable, or they will come around on their own. If they have some sense, they will get ready for talks, but whether they will do so is my doubt.”
Trump said US Navy warships returning from the Middle East could be deployed near the Cuban coast. He added that Florida Senator Marco Rubio would be brought in to straighten out diplomatic matters there.
Claiming his government had been 100 percent successful in bringing home Americans held captive abroad, Trump said 28 hostages held by Hamas had been handed over to their families. He also announced that American citizen Stephen Hubbard had been brought back safely from Russian detention.
On domestic issues, Trump announced a $250 million federal investment to address the severe shortage of nurses in elder care centres across the United States. Under the project, around 5,000 new nurses will be recruited nationwide.
The hiring is expected to be accelerated in Florida and several other states. While displaying aggression in global diplomacy, Trump’s focus on domestic healthcare, along with his latest remarks, has become a hot topic on the international stage.
