BRS MLA Harish Rao has been granted temporary relief in the phone tapping case, as the Telangana High Court extended its earlier order, which had prevented his arrest. The court directed the police not to arrest him until January 28, 2025, and issued notices to the petitioner to file a counter affidavit. The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for January 8, 2025.
The case stemmed from a complaint filed by real estate businessman G. Chakradhar, who alleged that his phone was tapped by Harish Rao. The Panjagutta police had informed the High Court that there was a need to arrest Harish Rao and question him. However, Harish Rao has approached the court to seek dismissal of the case.
Earlier, the High Court had directed that Harish Rao should not be arrested and ordered the filing of a counter affidavit. In response, Panjagutta Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) official Mohan Kumar filed a counter petition.

During the hearing, the High Court again ruled that Harish Rao should not be arrested until January 28 and instructed the filing of a counter petition. Meanwhile, Chakradhar has already provided a statement accusing Harish Rao of targeting him and filing false cases under the pretext of government support.
Chakradhar further claimed that the second accused, Radhakrishna Rao, had threatened him and subjected him to physical assault at the Secunderabad Task Force office.
As the case continues to unfold, there is growing interest in whether Harish Rao will face arrest in the near future.
