Former minister K. T. Rama Rao has received a major setback in the Formula E car race case related to events held in Hyderabad. The ACB Court has issued summons to KTR and several senior officials in connection with alleged irregularities in the conduct and financing of the 2023 Formula E race.

Apart from KTR, who has been named as Accused No.1, summons have also been issued to IAS officer Arvind Kumar (A2), former HMDA Chief Engineer BLN Reddy (A3), and sports consultant Kiran Malleswara Rao (A4). The court has directed all the accused to appear personally before it on July 31 for further proceedings.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is investigating allegations that around Rs.55 crore of government funds were transferred to a foreign entity in violation of established rules. Officials allege that the funds were released without prior approvals and in breach of financial and administrative protocols related to the event.

ACB officials have already questioned KTR, other accused individuals, and representatives of the Formula E Operations (FEO) organization as part of the ongoing probe. With the issuance of court summons, the July 31 hearing is expected to be crucial in determining the next course of action in the case.
