Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and actor Pawan Kalyan has approached the Delhi High Court after noticing his name and photographs being misused online for trolling on social media. The High Court has directed that all unauthorized content on social media platforms and websites be removed once Kalyan submits the complete details.
Several Telugu film actors have faced similar issues. Junior NTR approached the courts after his pictures were used without consent, while Nagarjuna obtained legal protection when unauthorized photos of him surfaced online. Chiranjeevi and Mohan Babu have also secured court orders to prevent misuse of their identity, voice, and personal images.
This is not limited to Tollywood. Bollywood actors have similarly approached courts to stop unauthorized promotions, deepfake videos, and counterfeit merchandise. The rise of AI tools and rapid digital content virality has intensified the problem.
These incidents have underscored the importance of celebrity personality rights. Courts are increasingly issuing prompt orders, compelling platforms to take swift action and safeguarding public figures against unauthorized online use. Pawan Kalyan’s legal step is seen as a notable example of protecting celebrity rights in the digital era.
