A sensation was triggered at the National Police Academy in Hyderabad after a woman trainee IPS officer accused a fellow male trainee IPS officer, Uday Krishna Reddy, of sexual harassment. A major development has now taken place in this matter.

IPS trainee Uday Krishna Reddy has attempted suicide. He attempted to take his own life at his brother’s residence in Motinagar, Erragadda. He was immediately rushed to hospital and is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in SR Nagar. Prior to this, Uday Krishna Reddy had put up a WhatsApp status claiming he was not at fault regarding the sexual harassment allegations.

“The complaints and the campaign being run against me are completely false,” he had stated. He had expressed confidence in the legal system, saying he believed that justice would ultimately prevail. He had appealed to people not to spread unverified claims without knowing the actual facts, and to act responsibly. Amid all this, his suicide attempt has now become a major talking point.

The case was registered and investigation began after the woman officer filed a complaint at Attapur police station on Sunday, alleging that she was being harassed by him. Hyderabad CP Sajjanar responded by stating that the victim’s statement had been recorded and that strict action would be taken as per the law. A committee that completed its inquiry based on footage recorded on CCTV cameras confirmed that the allegations were true. Following this, Uday Krishna Reddy was temporarily suspended from the NPA. It is understood that he fell into depression after being suspended.

As part of the investigation into this case, Attapur police issued a notice to Uday Krishna Reddy, clearly stating that he must provide an explanation regarding the incident within eight days. Treating this case with the utmost seriousness, Hyderabad police have accelerated the investigation under the supervision of Joint CP Tafseer Iqbal.
