HYDERABAD: The deadline for filing nominations for the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election concludes today, October 21. This marks the final opportunity for candidates from major political parties as well as independents to submit their nomination papers for this crucial by-poll. Over the past few days, leading party candidates have been filing their nominations, with several key contenders expected to submit papers today, including some alternate candidates.

To manage the expected rush on the final day, election authorities have made additional arrangements at nomination centers and enhanced security measures. BJP candidate Lankala Deepak Reddy is set to file his nomination today, arriving in a rally from Yusufguda. The rally will feature participation from Union Ministers Kishan Reddy, Bandi Sanjay, BJP Chief Ramchandar Rao, and others. The nomination process is scheduled to begin at 9 AM.

So far, 127 nominations have been filed. Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on October 22, with the last date for withdrawal of nominations set for October 24. Polling is scheduled for November 4, and counting and results will be declared on November 7.

In the previous election, BRS candidate Maganti Gopinath emerged victorious from this constituency. However, he passed away on June 8 due to health issues, necessitating the by-election. The BRS has announced the late Gopinath’s wife, Sunitha, as its candidate, while Congress has fielded Naveen Yadav. All major parties are strategizing to secure victory in this high-stakes contest.
