Jagtial: A 26-year-old man was allegedly murdered in broad daylight in Jagtial district on Thursday, in a case linked to repeated harassment of a young woman. The incident took place near the Peddavagu bridge in Velgatoor mandal and has sparked widespread discussion in the region.
The victim, identified as Salluri Mallesh, a resident of Kishanraopet village, had reportedly been harassing a woman from the same village for several years despite multiple warnings. The woman and her family had lodged several complaints against him, leading to the registration of four police cases. In a prior altercation three years ago, the woman’s family had assaulted Mallesh, after which he filed a counter-complaint, resulting in an SC/ST Atrocities case against her father, Rajireddy.
According to police, Mallesh visited the woman’s residence again on Thursday, prompting her to alert her father. Enraged, Rajireddy, along with two others, allegedly attacked Mallesh near the village bridge. He was later found dead with multiple stab wounds behind an old wine shop on the Kotilingala road. Based on a complaint filed by Mallesh’s father, Rajayya, a case has been registered against Rajireddy and two others under relevant sections of the IPC. Investigation is ongoing.
