Amaravati: Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has strongly condemned the arrest of senior journalist Kommineni Srinivasa Rao, alleging that the ruling alliance government has taken the culture of political vendetta to dangerous levels. In a post on social media, Jagan criticised the arrest as an attack on democracy and freedom of the press.
Jagan accused the coalition government of resorting to deliberate misinterpretation and manipulation of events to target individuals and divert public attention. He alleged that the arrest is part of a broader strategy to suppress dissent and even involved attacks on media houses like Sakshi. “A 70-year-old journalist, who didn’t make the comments himself, has been arrested. Is an anchor responsible for every word spoken in a debate?” he questioned.

Calling Andhra Pradesh the “address of anarchy,” Jagan said law, justice, and democracy were being severely undermined. He also accused Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu of attempting to silence critics through misuse of power. “Chandrababu’s government is plotting to ensure that no one raises their voice against his failures, corruption, and misrule over the past year,” Jagan said.

He warned that the people had given the government a five-year mandate, and one year has already passed. “In the remaining years, the public will demand answers for all the injustices and misuse of authority,” he said, adding that the consequences of today’s repressive actions will only grow stronger in the future.
Jagan reiterated his strong condemnation of the arrest and urged the government to uphold democratic values and constitutional rights.
