Amaravati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction of Amaravati, the capital city of Andhra Pradesh, in a high-profile event attended by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and other top officials. Addressing the gathering, Modi began his speech in Telugu and described Amaravati not merely as a city, but as a symbol of strength and development.
“The dream of Amaravati is becoming a reality. This is not just a city—it is a representation of power,” said Modi. He described the region as a unique blend of Buddhist heritage and modern growth, adding that the foundation-laying ceremony marks a new chapter in Andhra Pradesh’s development and reflects the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).
The Prime Minister asserted that the obstacles previously hindering the Amaravati project have been cleared and credited the state’s renewed momentum in AI technology, green energy, and education. He also highlighted the Centre’s continued support in improving the region’s infrastructure, noting that highway development is boosting tourism across the state.
Referring to his earlier years as Gujarat Chief Minister alongside Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership in Andhra Pradesh, Modi said he had closely observed the state’s pioneering use of technology. He also mentioned the modernization of railway stations under the Amrit Bharat scheme and reiterated the Centre’s commitment to completing the Polavaram irrigation project in coordination with the state government.
