Hyderabad: In the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, heightened security measures have been put in place across India. As part of a nationwide crackdown, Hyderabad police have identified four Pakistani nationals residing in the city on short-term visas and have issued them notices to leave the country within 24 hours.
According to official sources, a total of 213 Pakistani nationals are currently residing in Hyderabad. Among them, 209 hold long-term visas, while four are on short-term visas. Surveillance efforts are now focused on these four individuals, who have been directed to exit the city immediately. The central government has clarified that holders of long-term visas are exempt from this directive.
This action follows a broader national directive from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, which has instructed all Pakistani nationals residing in India to leave the country by April 29. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has also reportedly spoken with Chief Ministers of all states, urging them to identify and repatriate Pakistani nationals currently residing in their territories.
In response, Telangana authorities have intensified their verification and surveillance operations. As part of this effort, Hyderabad police on Thursday detained a Pakistani national, Mohammad Fayaz, who had previously married a woman from Hyderabad. Fayaz had reportedly traveled from Pakistan to Hyderabad via Nepal to meet his wife. Upon identification, he was taken into custody for further questioning. Preliminary investigations reveal that Fayaz is currently employed in Dubai. Authorities have stated that further details will be disclosed following a detailed inquiry.
The Telangana police continue to work in coordination with central agencies to ensure compliance with the national security directive and to monitor the movements of foreign nationals across the state.
