Hyderabad: Telangana Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Saturday announced a series of major initiatives aimed at housing, infrastructure, and urban development, with a special focus on Warangal. Speaking at a review meeting with ministers at the Secretariat, he said the state government has decided to provide Rs 5 lakh in financial assistance to beneficiaries for the completion of under-construction double-bedroom (2BHK) houses.
He directed district collectors to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries are allotted houses by August 15, prioritizing genuine poor families regardless of their application dates. He also instructed officials to consider recent applications and added that a toll-free number will soon be set up to address complaints and issues related to Indiramma housing schemes.
Highlighting the government’s vision for Warangal, the minister said the historic city will be developed as the second capital of Telangana. He revealed that ₹4,170 crore has been sanctioned for a comprehensive underground drainage system in the city, taking into account its projected population in 2057.
On the long-pending Mamnoor Airport project, Minister Ponguleti stated that the dream of the Warangal region’s people is set to be realized soon. He said land acquisition is being taken up on a war footing, and ₹205 crore has been released by the state government through the Green Channel to expedite the process.
In relation to the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park, he said 1,398 beneficiaries under the R&R package have been identified, and 863 plots will be allotted to them in the Rajiv Gandhi Township.
He further announced that development works at the Bhadrakali temple — including the renovation of Mada streets, a Kalyana Mandapam, priest quarters, and decorative lighting — will be completed by Dasara.
Additionally, the minister instructed officials to identify suitable land for the construction of a cricket stadium in Warangal district.
