New Delhi: Turkey and Azerbaijan have issued strong statements condemning India’s recent airstrikes under Operation Sindhoor, which targeted terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in the early hours of Tuesday. The strikes were conducted at nine locations as part of a swift and strategic military operation by the Indian armed forces.
Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement released on social media platform X, expressed concern over the escalating situation between India and Pakistan. “We are monitoring the developments between India and Pakistan with deep concern. The airstrikes conducted by India last night have increased the risk of war between the two countries. We strongly condemn such provocative actions, particularly those targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure,” the statement read. Turkey also urged both nations to exercise restraint and refrain from unilateral actions. It may be recalled that Turkey had earlier extended support to Pakistan’s call for an investigation into the Pahalgam terror attack.
In a separate statement, Azerbaijan also voiced its support for Pakistan, expressing alarm over the military escalation. “We are concerned about the growing tensions between India and Pakistan. We condemn the military attacks on the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Reports indicate that several civilians were killed in the strikes,” Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry said. The country conveyed condolences to the families of those killed and expressed solidarity with the people of Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Qatar joined the international response, calling on both India and Pakistan to maintain calm and avoid actions that could further escalate the conflict.
The Indian government has not officially responded to these international statements. However, officials have maintained that the strikes were precise, intelligence-based operations aimed solely at dismantling terror infrastructure across the border.
