The alleged drugs case linked to a farmhouse in Moinabad has sparked a major political controversy across Telangana. Mahesh Kumar Goud, president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), made strong remarks on the issue and demanded that the team of former minister K. T. Rama Rao respond to the allegations. He said that if necessary, all MLAs in the state were ready to undergo drug tests. Goud added that the state’s anti-narcotics EAGLE teams were carrying out raids to ensure a drug-free society and alleged that suspicions had been raised about drug use by K.T. Rama Rao and some of his associates. He said that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was working toward building a drug-free Telangana.

Meanwhile, Congress workers staged protests near Gandhi Bhavan under the leadership of Congress MLC Balmuri Venkat. Demonstrators raised slogans such as “No Drugs, Save Telangana.” During the protest, Venkat made serious allegations against K.T. Rama Rao and former MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy, claiming that several close associates of KTR had been involved in drug consumption during the ten-year rule of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). He also accused BRS leaders of attempting to divert attention instead of addressing the issue directly.

The controversy follows a late-night raid conducted on March 14 by the Telangana Police’s anti-narcotics wing at the farmhouse of Pilot Rohith Reddy in Moinabad. During the raid, officials reportedly seized about two grams of cocaine along with other narcotic substances. Police said that one person fired shots into the air during the operation, creating tension at the scene.

According to preliminary investigations, the firing was allegedly carried out by a Delhi-based businessman identified as Rithesh Reddy. Police said that around ten people, including Pilot Rohith Reddy and Putt Mahesh Yadav, an MP from Eluru in Andhra Pradesh, along with several businessmen and political figures from different states, were present at the gathering. Initial drug screening reportedly returned positive results for Rohith Reddy and four others, while their blood and urine samples have been sent to a forensic laboratory for final confirmation.
