The Telangana Police’s crackdown on betting apps has intensified, with cases being registered against individuals ranging from small YouTubers to prominent film personalities. In a recent development, Tollywood comedian Ali has been accused of promoting betting apps, with allegations surfacing against him and his wife.
YouTuber Pravanjana Yatrikudu Anvesh made the claims through his channel, stating that Ali endorsed betting platforms while disguising promotional activities as charity work. He further alleged that Ali’s wife was also involved in the endorsements.
Accusations of Misusing Charity for Promotions
Anvesh, currently in Istanbul, Turkey, released a video where he held the Quran and questioned why a celebrity with assets worth ₹1,000 crore would promote betting apps, particularly during Ramzan. He alleged that Ali misled the public under the pretense of charity, citing an instance where the comedian and his wife reportedly prepared chicken biryani worth Rs 10,000 and distributed it to orphans. The video of this act allegedly garnered 5 million views, generating around Rs 5 lakh in YouTube revenue.

He accused Ali of leveraging social initiatives to secure financial gains from betting app organizers and questioned whether such acts were morally or legally justifiable.
Public Outrage and Law Enforcement Action
The allegations have sparked widespread debate on social media, with netizens criticizing Ali for allegedly misleading the public. Some have questioned whether using charity as a cover for betting app promotions constitutes fraud.
Meanwhile, Telangana Police continue to file cases against individuals linked to betting apps, including those identified in Anvesh’s exposé. It remains to be seen how authorities will respond to the allegations against Ali and his wife and whether legal action will be initiated.
