The Indian National Congress has taken control of the Nereducharla Municipality in Suryapet district, securing a clear majority in a closely fought civic election. The party won nine wards to capture the municipal body and stake claim to the chairperson’s post, consolidating its position in the region.
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi, which contested in alliance with the Jana Sena Party, won five wards to finish second, while Jana Sena registered its first victory in the state’s ongoing municipal polls by securing one ward. With Congress forming the administration, the BRS–Jana Sena alliance will sit in the opposition, as newly elected candidates celebrated their win with supporters across the town.
