The Telangana government has taken a significant decision in light of corruption allegations against the Adani Group. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced that the state has rejected a Rs 100 crore donation pledged by the Adani Group for the Skills India University. A formal letter has been sent to the group conveying this decision.

“Discussions about Adani have been making waves across the nation for the past few days. Some have criticized the Telangana government for accepting funds from the group. Let me clarify that we only allow investments from Adani or any entity in a constitutionally and legally compliant manner. Tenders are floated, and projects are awarded as per regulations. Every company, including Ambani, Adani, or Tata, has the right to do business in Telangana within legal frameworks,” Revanth Reddy stated.

He further explained, “The Skills University was initiated with the noble goal of imparting technical skills to millions of unemployed youth. Neither I, my cabinet colleagues, nor the government are comfortable with the university being dragged into controversies. Claims that Adani’s donation to the Skills University was given to the Chief Minister or ministers are baseless. We have instructed the Adani Group not to transfer the Rs 100 crore pledged under CSR to the university. The Telangana government has not received any funds from anyone, and we will not allow unnecessary controversies to tarnish the state’s image.”

Revanth Clarifies on Delhi Visit

Responding to criticism about his recent Delhi visit, CM Revanth Reddy stated that it was unrelated to politics. “I traveled to Delhi to attend the wedding of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s daughter. Tomorrow, we will meet with MPs to discuss the upcoming Parliament sessions and also meet central ministers to address state issues,” he explained.

Taking a jibe at his critics, he said, “Some claim I have visited Delhi 28 times. Unlike them, I don’t go to Delhi for lobbying or bail. We must secure what Telangana deserves from the central government, and I will visit Delhi as many times as necessary.”

The Chief Minister also criticized the previous BRS government for its dealings with the Adani Group. “The BRS government awarded numerous projects to Adani and was deeply connected with them. They took commissions from Adani. KTR is desperate to go to jail, believing he might become CM afterward. If going to jail leads to becoming CM, Kavitha, who has already been to jail, would be first in line. The KCR family’s internal competition for the CM seat is evident,” Revanth remarked.
