Hyderabad: The Telangana government has decided to begin the Gaddar Telangana Film Awards from this Ugadi, recognizing the best films made in the Telugu language. The announcement was made by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu during a committee meeting held at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat on Saturday.
Bhatti emphasized that the awards would focus on honoring films that promote national unity, social and cultural awareness, and reflect the highest standards of technical expertise and humanitarian values. He stated that the awards aim to encourage the creation of films that embody cultural pride and social responsibility.

He also noted the government’s efforts to transform Hyderabad into a global film production hub. Bhatti further pointed out that the previous administration had overlooked the film industry, and awards had not been distributed in the past decade. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, he assured that the government is taking comprehensive measures to support the growth of the film industry.
The Gaddar Telangana Film Awards will be presented annually, with categories such as Best Feature Film, Best Children’s Film, and Best Book on Telugu Cinema.

The meeting, which included industry leaders such as TDFCC Chairman Dil Raju, MD Dr. Harish, ED Kishore Babu, and committee members including Jayasudha, Tammareddy Bharadwaj, Harish Shankar, Vande Mataram Srinivas, Gummadi Vennela, Allani Sridhar, and Venu, also discussed the awards’ implementation.
