The Telangana government has once again carried out a major reshuffling of IPS officers. CV Anand, who was serving as the ACB Director General (DG), has been transferred and appointed as the Commissioner of Police (CP) for Hyderabad. The current Hyderabad CP, Kothakota Srinivas Reddy, has been reassigned as the DG of Vigilance & Enforcement. Vijay Kumar has been appointed as the new ACB DG.
CV Anand had previously served as Hyderabad CP before the election code came into effect, at which point the Election Commission relieved him of his duties. After the elections, the Revanth Reddy government appointed him as ACB DG, where he left his mark by focusing intensely on corruption within the police department. Many Circle Inspectors (CIs) and Sub-Inspectors (SIs) were caught red-handed accepting bribes, thanks to Anand’s vigilance. The ACB also recently caught several officials from other departments. Reports even suggest that some police officers, fearing consequences, have returned bribe money they had taken in the past.
CV Anand’s transfer has become a topic of discussion. Government sources suggest that rising law and order concerns, as well as issues with traffic control, are the reasons behind the change in the Hyderabad CP. Given his previous experience as CP in Cyberabad and Hyderabad, the government has entrusted Anand with this responsibility once again.
Additionally, the government has appointed another IPS officer, Mahesh Bhagwat, as the Additional DG of Police Personnel, while M. Ramesh has been given additional responsibilities as IG of Police Sports.
