Hyderabad: The Telangana government has approved the recruitment of 10,954 Village Governance Officers to oversee revenue-related matters in rural areas. The state’s Finance Department granted clearance for these posts on Saturday, and the new cadre has been designated as “Gram Panchayat Officers” (GPOs). The Principal Secretary of the Finance Department has issued the necessary orders for implementation.
This recruitment is part of the state’s ongoing job drive. The Telangana government recently announced the results for Group 2 and Group 3 examinations, while a notification for 13,000 vacancies in the Women and Child Welfare Department is also in progress. The latest approval for Village Governance Officers adds to the series of employment opportunities being created across various sectors.

The Telangana Cabinet had earlier sanctioned the recruitment of 10,950 Village Level Officer posts to strengthen rural governance. Additionally, 217 posts have been allocated for newly formed revenue divisions and mandals. These officers will handle administrative and revenue-related responsibilities at the village level, similar to the roles previously performed by Village Revenue Officers (VROs) and Village Revenue Assistants (VRAs).
The government plans to conduct examinations to fill these positions and enhance village-level administration. With the recruitment process set to begin soon, the initiative aims to streamline governance and improve service delivery in rural areas across the state.
