Telangana Colleges Warn of Shutdown Over Fee Dues

Private college managements across Telangana have issued a stern warning to the Revanth Reddy government, announcing that institutions will be shut from November 3 if pending fee reimbursement funds are not released.

Federation of Association of Telangana Higher Education Institutes Chairman N. Ramesh demanded immediate payment of Rs 900 crore in dues, stating that of the total Rs 1,200 crore, only Rs Rs 300 crore had been released so far. He urged the government to clear the remaining Rs 900 crore by November 1 to avoid disruption in college operations.

Ramesh alleged that running the colleges had become increasingly difficult due to financial constraints and claimed that even ministers were not extending necessary support. He expressed anger that managements were being criticized for merely demanding their legitimate dues.

Private college associations have repeatedly warned of shutdowns over fee reimbursement delays. Although Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka recently assured that all pending dues amounting to Rs 1,200 crore would be cleared before Diwali, the failure to release the funds so far has sparked widespread resentment among college managements.“`
