Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has issued a direct challenge to opposition leaders, expressing his willingness to compare his government’s first year in office with the 16-year tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the 10-year rule of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
Speaking at a public event in Narayanapet, the Chief Minister called on leaders from the BJP, including Kishan Reddy and MP Bandi Sanjay, to engage in a discussion. He also took aim at the BRS leadership, stating, “Whether it is KCR, his son, or his son-in-law, it does not matter—just fix a date, and I am ready for the debate.”
Highlighting his administration’s initiatives, Revanth Reddy cited the provision of 55,000 jobs for unemployed youth, the establishment of model schools for women, and the allocation of 600 RTC buses under a scheme enabling women to become owners. He further pointed to development projects, including Rs. 5,000 crore allocated for Kodangal and Rs. 1,000 crore for Narayanapet. Additionally, he stated that the government is delivering 5 lakh Indiramma houses annually and challenged the opposition to present similar housing efforts in villages where double-bedroom houses were promised.
The Chief Minister was particularly critical of former CM KCR, questioning his track record on irrigation projects. He alleged that the BRS government failed to provide water to the Palamuru region for a decade and described the Palamuru-Rangareddy project as a missed opportunity that left Mahabubnagar district barren. He further warned that KCR would be held accountable if permission is granted for the Makthall Narayanapet-Kodangal project.
Turning his attention to the BJP, Revanth Reddy challenged its leaders on their promise of generating two crore jobs annually, questioning which individuals in Telangana had benefited apart from Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay. He accused BJP functionaries of repeatedly criticizing the government despite its efforts and urged Congress party workers to counter the opposition with facts.
Revanth Reddy’s remarks, delivered in a confrontational tone, have intensified the political discourse in Telangana, setting the stage for further debates on governance and accountability.
