The Telangana Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, concluded a meeting that lasted over four hours and approved several significant policy decisions. One of the key approvals was the merger of 27 municipalities and corporations located along the Outer Ring Road (ORR) into the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). The Cabinet also sanctioned the creation of a third power distribution company to manage agricultural electricity connections and lift irrigation schemes.

A detailed review of the state’s power requirements for the next decade was undertaken during the meeting. Following this, the Cabinet approved the procurement of 3,000 MW of solar power, with tenders to be floated shortly. Approval was also granted for purchasing 2,000 MW of pumped storage power and for permitting new industries to generate their own electricity. Additionally, the government cleared the construction of an 800 MW power plant at Ramagundam under NTPC, while proposals for new plants in Palvoncha and Makthal were discussed.

In other decisions, Hyderabad will be divided into three circles for the implementation of an underground cable power system along with T-Fiber network installation. The government allocated 20 acres in Peddanallavelli of Dummugudem mandal in Bhadradri district for setting up a Young India School, and 40 acres in Jagganapet of Mulugu district for a new sports school. The Cabinet also approved the establishment of more Advanced Training Institutes across the state, including one in Jubilee Hills.
