At least 18 people died and many were injured in a series of suicide bombings on Saturday in northeastern Nigeria. The attacks happened during a wedding and a funeral in Gwoza, a city troubled by Islamist insurgency for 15 years.
Barkindo Saidu, from Borno State’s emergency agency, said three female bombers carried out the attacks. Children and pregnant women were among the victims, with some reports suggesting up to 30 people were killed.
No group has claimed responsibility yet. The bombings resemble past attacks by Boko Haram, a group that has killed thousands in Nigeria and displaced over two million people.
