Social media star Barelakka (Sirisha) was arrested by police today during a protest in front of the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TGPSC) office, where she joined a dharna in support of the unemployed. The police intervened and detained her as tensions escalated at the site. Expressing her frustration, Barelakka criticized Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, asserting that he should not overlook the plight of the unemployed. She demanded immediate government action to issue job notifications and address the grievances of job seekers in the state.
The protest is part of a movement by the Telangana Unemployed Joint Action Committee (JAC), which has called for a blockade of the TGPSC office this Friday and announced plans for an ‘unemployment march’ expected to draw participation from 30 lakh people. The Telangana unemployed youth has intensified their protest against several grievances including the increase in group posts, the demand for a 1:100 ratio for Group-I Mains, the release of a job calendar, and the cancellation of GO 46. As a culmination of their demands, demonstrators have initiated a blockade of the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TGPSC) office in Hyderabad, scheduled for Friday.
